Surviving Re-entry

This document, "Surviving Re-entry: A Readjustment Manual for Parents", was written by the School for International Training in Vermont that specializes in international studies.

The guide is about students trying to readjust to American culture after they've spent a semester or two abroad. I found many of the observations of the students to be quite interesting.

Here's some quotes by students that I like:

“One hard thing for me was finding myself among peers who don’t share the same global consciousness that I had acquired while I was away. I wanted to smack a lot of people and tell them to wake up and look around them, even though I could easily have been one of them four months before.”

“Then Christmas hit. The extravagance was overwhelming and depressing to me – the waste, the excess.”

Yea. All it takes is to take one step out of the realm.
