But many live at an aunt's house or with a brother and save that way. Seen it. Very few Pinoys live alone. And if after taxes they manage to send home 20-30 thousand pesos, that will accomplish wonders in the Philippines. Tuitions, businesses, etc.

There are some 4.5 million Filipinos in the USA. Somehow they chose to stay.
Some may want to leave the US but are afraid of the social stigma they'll face back in the Philippines because they had very high expectations of them. Another reason why some decide to stay especially African immigrants is because they foolishly sold their assets(land or Houses) back in their home countries in order to raise the money needed to immigrate to America because they thought every one in America lived the Hollywood lifestyle, and when they find out the cold had reality when they set foot in the US, majority go into a major depression, some commit suicide, but most choose to stay because they no longer own anything back home and are afraid of the social stigma back home. Imagine yourself in their shoes, there's nothing you can do but stay and may be hope to hit the lottery.

Nicho12, are you Filipino-American? If so, what stigma are you talking about?

Well, guess what. There are 100 million Irish in the USA. Somehow they chose to stay.

Exactly. Some adjust, learn to deal with all the problems, organize themselves and slowly progress. After some years, they have good jobs, cars, houses, kids born here, and slowly life gets better and better. Most accept America as a new home.

Plus there are very few Irish citizens in the US. Most people you call Irish are Americans. I guess the same can be said about Pinoys to an extent but the percentage of actual Filipino citizens is way higher.

100 million Irish would mean 1 in 3 Americans are Irish. Not likely.

I like cabbage stir fried with chili and bacon, and hot apple pie with milk. I don't expect you or anyone else to like the same. If apple pie is not to your liking, then perhaps you should try pajeon, crêpes, or tamales instead.

It'd be silly to expect everyone to like the same fruit jam.

asian males in america are ridiculed and thought of unsexy, geeky, not manly..... I think some asian men are owning up and waking up.... the problem is for decades asians were very submissive towards white people, as a result they are seen with a condescending manner especially by the same white people.

some asian dudes are starting to break the norm though, look at brazzers.com they have an asian porn actor banging latinas, asians, whites, blacks.... and many more asian males are starting to be seen as bad asses!!!!
World traveler, questions about women from a certain country? Ask!!! I can help

I agree completely about how Asians have been treated, made fun of here. Ive been seeing it since I can remember. And they get it from everyone, not just whites. I think its also a bit worse on the males. The females are at least seen as sexy, docile, a positive female trait. The males are seen as geeks, wimps, and such. If I was an Asian man, I wouldn't even visit this place. Maybe an Asian female, maybe, but even thats no guarantee people will be nice to you.

Myths Chinese / Taiwanese People Have About USA/Canada

1. America and Canada are less politically correct and allow more room for expression.

ANS: While it may seem so at first, once you get deeper into the culture you realize that it is just as politically correct. For Chinese, the definition of politically correct normally means not openly criticizing the government. However, the political correctness I'm talking about is how much people hate truth, and are afraid to think outside-the-box. Just like in China/Taiwan, if you think and act differently from the group, you will be ostracized.

2. America and Canada have better dating scenes.

ANS: American and Canadian women are more or less total b#####s. They are shallow, materialistic, loud, and immature.I cannot have deep conversations with 99% of them because they simply cannot connect with me on an emotional and intellectual wavelength. Nowadays basically all of them waste their life gossiping with friends or going on Facebook. They see gentleness from a guy as weakness, preferring to go with total jerks that treat them almost sub-human. American women also came up with the so-called "friend zone" rather than being firm and direct. Unfortunately, their behavior has influenced much of the world. US/Canadian women have princess syndrome and are the worst at handling issues. They expect the man to cater to them 24/7 while they are simply lazy bums with hardly a life.

3. America and Canada are true democratic countries.

ANS: Perhaps a more accurate way to describe it is faction-based mass control. The Democrats/Liberals take turn by feeding the people a bunch of lies and illusions for a couple years, then the Republicans/Conservatives recite their own bullshit for the next few years. In the end, nothing gets done because the people in suits are always arguing back and forth like children, too screwed up to remotely give a damn about the real picture and the real welfare of the people, because they are afraid that if the truth come out, the masses are going to lose faith and become harder to control. While Realpolitik (countries and politicians working for their own interests) is everywhere, many governments around the world can still hold themselves together and make unified decisions during times of crisis, such as China.
I believe that the most stable form of government is a Republic. Multiple parties are allowed, but decisive power lies within the dominant political party. The smaller parties may have a voice, but still revolve around the dominant / most wise party. It is similar to a coalition government system.

4. America and Canada are multicultural and tolerant of different ethnicities.

ANS: While America on the surface looks like a melting pot, the truth is its shit, especially for Asians. Even today, the Caucasian ethnicity still dominates, and whether you realize it or not, whites still see themselves as vastly superior. You are either white or inferior in one way or another. If you are not white, at least you got to idolize the mainstream culture and fit in to be truly accepted.

5. Americans and Canadians are free-spirited and enjoy life a lot more.

ANS: Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. America and Canada, like China and Taiwan, are all workaholic cultures where the people live for work, instead of striving for intellectual, spiritual, and artistic pursuits. It is because many are afraid that if they do not become like this, they will be left out of mainstream society and apart from everyone else who are workaholics and always strive to earn more or get to a higher position. For them, it gives an ordered structure for them to follow, a sense of belonging through conformity because they are so programmed to fear being different / radical.

Ok, it's me. I've left this site a year ago and only go on here on a rare occasional basis, but I'm back again, at least for this thread which I've came across it somehow while trying to find a place on google to vent.

Ok, here's the thing. Before you approach this issue, you gotta understand some principles when it comes to Asians who immigrate to US/Canada/Australia...etc. There are different types:

a. As someone mentioned, there are illegals who move here for the money and/or political oppression...mostly from China or other less developed Asian countries. They will not necessarily end up in these w-a-s-p paradises, you can find them in just any developed countries. They're just out there for a better life and are usually the ones who tend to be less "Asian"...or in other words, these type tend to act less soft, lame, dependent on their parents, unable to think outside of box, or conformist as the word Winston chose to use.

b. Now these type is the major source of Asian American problems as we all have know of or experienced: The ones from Taiwan, Hk, South Korea and wealthy Chinese cities such as Shanghai and Beijing. They're not poor, and in fact they're usually conservative upper middle class back home, even though they might not tell you that. They're here for many reasons:

-It could be that they think American college education for their kids is some kind of "medal of honor" due to an inferior complex, which is usually the case (I've met a dentist a while ago who filled my cavity wisdom tooth...he's Taiwanese and his name is Stanford...now you know what his folks want for him when they named him "Stanford". I can only imaging the torment he received as a child.).

-Or like someone has said, they left here for political reasons of fearing Chinese invasion, especially in the cases of Hk and Taiwan. When you look at it this way...they were protected by the US, and under pro-west governments...matter fact their ultra traditional asses were very well to be on their way of getting rolled over by the communist if not for the US saving them back in Chinese Civil War. Then US, thinking they're easily manipulated compares to China and sent them tons of economical aids as well as "missionaries" and "teachers" out there to teach them white American dream and the racist white American ideas. Ok I can go further, but I decide to stop here before I write a whole book about it. Basically...they're the products of white America's manipulation, they might as well as going further and become an US citizen.

Now let's get to the solution here...what can we do? I believe most of us were either born in the US or brought to the US at a young age. Ok here's an advice, while I agree, the way how Asian American males are treated is absolutely suck, but DON'T MOVE BACK, especially if you got families over there. DO NOT buy into the bullshit your folks brainwash you neither as 9 outta 10 of them don't know a jack shit what's going on and they have their own intentions too. What you SHOULD DO, is to move to somewhere that's neither where you or your parents came from...such as South America as my eventual destination.

And a bit tips here. Don't get a US citizenship. See I'm street smart enough not to get a US citizenship as it's expensive and it might get you in trouble in developing countries and it will prevent you from entering a lot of countries that's anti-American (US has more enemies than you thought, believe it or not.). Your parents might want you to though...but hey they have their own intention...I think Winston might know that both Taiwan and South Korea have military draft, but as US citizen they cannot do anything. Your parents might want you to go back for whatever reason. Don't be fooled or the next thing will be they blowing up your phone with calls and/or texts telling you to go back with them for whatever reason.

Basically be yourself, think outside of the US and East Asia, don't trust your parents for one bit. Your life require you to think outside of box, and that's what you should do.

America is a shitty country for Asian men...so is any Anglo Western country! So I don't feel sorry for any Asians that decides to stay there--and then find out those countries weren't what 'they were expecting.'

So if you get racially abused, made fun-of and generally mistreated by racist Whites and Blacks in the West, well...it's your fault for immigrating to those places in the first place!

I see your points, but I do have to say, while I agree, Asian American male has it bad, but beside that, the comment you just made is relatively naive and simple minded.

You also have to consider about those who were born here or brought here as a child. I don't know you in person, but I believe it might be your case. For those of us who's in that situation, it's not our fault, but its doesn't have to end up like this...we can break away from our parents' abuse as well as the abuses put up by whites by doing what I've just done.

At the same time, if you feel like you want to inspiring some changes, there are ways such as writing books/blogs that encourage our brothers and sisters to think outside of boxes, think for themselves and questioning the traditional authority such as the government, big corporation, police, the pro-west government we got in Asian tigers, and yes, even our parents, who are the product of white manipulation.

Remember, blacks and Latinos are on the same boat as us. If you ever find your parents hate them or blacks or Latinos on Asian violence, remember, they're the result of white manipulation. Feel free to fight them if you're in that position by any means if they attack you, but just remember who the real bad guys are in the picture. And if you end up hating them and become one of those paranoid Asian "nationalist" who hate everyone, then I say that you're NOT free from your parents' and white elitists' manipulation, and you just another white elitists' tool, angry but helpless. Remember, white elitists love minority to be ignorant and abuse ourselves because those ones are easy to be manipulated into doing their biding.

Well, yes...I'm not directing this rant against children of first-generation immigrants; It's not they're fault their parents made the wrong decision to leave Asia to come to Western countries to settle in. And, I can see where immigrants fleeing from political persecution may have a better life in the West. But, besides them, why would an Asian want to immigrate to the West, when Asia is becoming the new center of the world?

I have stated it in my earlier posts.

That could very well be one of the reason.

Or...
They were never invaded, but due to the paranoid brought by white American dream as well as their own backward mindset, they believe they'll be ultimately doomed if that ever happen. Remember, you're dealing with someone who has being brainwashed by white America. Yes, you can be brainwashed by whites Americans and be traditional at the same time. White elitists PREFER it that way actually.

Re: Why do so many Asians want to come to America?

Post by zboy1 »

I'm no longer an angry Asian American man, since arriving in Asia. Now, I'm having the time of my life. It's completely different being an Asian male in Asia and being an Asian male in the United States. It's like a total 180, in my opinion.

And I still ask this question: Why do so many Asians I meet, want to come to the United States? Many of them will be solely disappointed, sigh. I keep warning them, but many don't listen. In fact, Winston, Baoning, me and EthanSg were warning some Chinese girls about this, but many seem confused by our feelings, and didn't understand what we were trying to say.

It's a bit frustrating, to be honest.
