My opinions have changed over time. Although there are certain aspects of Socialism I disagree with, public healthcare is no longer one of them.

There is actually far more waste that occurs with Medicare and Medicaid, along with the insurance system in the US. A decently structured public system would, for instance, cut down on uneducated people without insurance crowding the ER.

We only have two options one is to stay and fight to get our country back, and many of us will not do that. Or leave and give up your citizenship. I prefer the latter. You are free of them forever once you do that.

There are advantages to being American, dubious ones but advantages. If you were in danger, no other country would aggressively come after you or protest you than the US, it likes to have an excuse to use force. You're also never far from a embassy or military installation. Yes its an Empire, so while its an Empire why not use it to your advantage?

I am all for Single Payer Health Care, but I do have concerns, especially if the FDA and local police are going to raid with gun drawn Raw Food Co-Ops like they have done recently in Venice (Los Angeles). It can't be in the business if protecting industry if they are WRONG and the citizens are right.

I really do not see any advantages of being an American. I see Martial Law and a Police State on the horizon. Right along with these animals knowing everything about you. My passport has an electronic chip in it.
There is nothing here for me. And my brother they do not come every time as there are plenty of Americans overseas in jail.
Many of them on offenses that here would get you 10 days in jail. In other countries you could get life in prison and America will do nothing about it.

During the expansion of the west in 1800's America, some mid-western states were forced to find creative ways to draw in new settlers. I think it was Utah that decided the best way to do this was to legalize divorce. At the time, this was a wildly controversial topic, but Utah stepped up to the plate and allowed a husband and wife to part ways legally. The only stipulation was that after divorce, the two parties agreed to remain in Utah for a set number of years.

You could view the gay marriage issue in Hawaii in the same light. Hawaii being a tourist based economy, and now the Mecca for queers wanting to tie the knot, and of course subject themselves to soul-crushing future alimony payments. More power to them!

There area already states that have shot down this socialized health care idea, or plan to do so in the near future. Perhaps we will see a migration into these states if this health care boondoggle gets off the ground...which I doubt.

I think this is great, personally. The concept of states competing for residents is a fantastic idea. Texas for all the gun-toting flag-wavers, New York for all the pinko nanny-state types, California for fruits, nuts, wetbacks, and insolvency. Virginia, my current home state, for all the glassy-eyes fascist trolls and mind-control victims. And New Hampshire, my future home state, for freedom loving Constitutionalists that crave open carry laws and low taxes.

Time will tell.
