What is your favorite country abroad? Why? Is it also your favorite place in the world? What makes that country your favorite place?

My favourite region is the Far East with The Philippines coming out on top. Why? Memories & good times. First date abroad. An adventure into unknown territory with an element of "danger". Travelling across a tropical country visiting different islands. Cool and laid-back people. Very few crass & loud-mouthed Westerners. Just a great place to chill out and enjoy yourself in.

Previously, my favourite country was Turkey from several decades ago but it's gone downhill since then.

My favourite region is.....

I like how you put this in terms of region because there is no single favorite country for me. They all have things that I like and things that irk me. Some of the countries that irk me the most have some of the people closest to me, so that is a complicating factor.

Having said that, the Balkans and the former Soviet European countries are my favorites for a multitude of reasons.

My favorite region is Far East Asia (Japan) and South East Asia (Thailand) - I left Europe more than 40 years ago and never came back.

As for me, Tanzania is the best one. The main thing is connected to the most interesting excursions that can be found here. Safari, climbing and a lot of other variants.
