Taking up CE's suggestion that we should offer constructive comments about how Winston can cut a dashing figure and slay the ladies in Europe and elsewhere, I'll start with this edict: no t-shirts until he has spent at least three months in the weight room. In the cooler clime of Europe, a sport coat that de-emphasizes the gut and adds a veneer of sophistication should be his constant friend and companion. Drop a little coin on good shoes. I like dressy sneakers by Ecco, which will set you back around $150 at full price, a third off when on sale. Talking heads on sports shows in the U.S. even wear them with suits.

And please, Winston, do start lifting. That's all the exercise you need. The gut will recede as you build muscle. And if you'll just stick with it for a couple weeks you'll start to see the results and get hooked. Just 45 minutes to an hour three days a week with a basic program will suffice. Maybe work the jawline a bit in the odd spare moment as well.

Really, if Dan Lok can be a mack daddy, there's absolutely no reason Winston can't be.

Don't know how advisable that would be when you're trying to build muscle, though there are those with very good builds who believe strongly in intermittent fasting -- basically one meal a day in the afternoon. But don't put too much on Winston's plate now (figuratively speaking). Just start resistance training, and make sure that gets done.

The key virtue when pursuing a decent girl who's not in for a quick (s)exchange is...patience.

The amount of patience and perseverance one needs to muster, to court a girl worth her salt, is a galaxy apart from the world of quick & cheap trills Winston built for himself. Yes, he would do with less fat and more muscle, but he also needs to learn to:

1) Avoid the cheap PUA tricks - they don't work and even when they do, they're likely to attract sl*ts or scammers.

2) Identify the social environments conducive to meeting decent people - men and women alike. Even in the Philippines there are plenty of charity associations (both confessional and non-confessional) full of foreigners willing to help. Those environments are not only full of women, but full of women who - by virtue of being there - have a much higher chance of having a good heart, being less materialistic etc.

3) Build respect and trust in one or more of the social environments as in 2). Again, it takes time, patience and genuine work. Joining a charity association with the clear intent of socialising only is a no-no. One has to like what they're doing and put some good work. Then the people in there, men and women, and their family and friends, will start to notice. From then on the work is half done.

4) Be a respectable member of the community, which usually means have a legitimate purpose for being in the host place. Especially in Europe, nobody likes to hang out with a self-proclaimed "free spirit" if they have work or family or something more productive to do. If Winston had a job in Prague or Malaga, just a round of beer or wine with his coworkers would give him a sense of belonging and allow said coworkers to get to know him and maybe introduce him more people.

5) Know exactly what kind of woman he wants. The "better than nothing" mentality leads nowhere else than the minimum common denominator of female humanity, which is more or less what our Winnie is used to in Angeles. Does she needs to be young (max early 30s) or he could do with a well-kept 40-something old lady, who will be much happier to share her mind and her bed with Winston? Does she need to be dumb, in which case she will be probably hooked on shallow, unsophisticated expectations about looks & behaviour, or smart enough to understand the quality of conversations and intellectual connection he might get out of Winston?

Being selective might sound a waste of time. I "wasted" 2.5 years of my life in Davao, having mindless fun and knowing that none of those fun buddies were meant for a relationship with me. With hindsight, though, I realised that by not being with any of those girls, I spared myself a comparable amount of time worth of pain, hassle, and drama.

Ultimately, does he really need a stable relationship anyway? For how much he complains not having quality companionship, he seems to always prefer the happy-go-lucky "boy in a candy store" conduct. Even if he did manage to find a worthy young woman ready to love him for who he is, are we sure he won't be back to his old whoremongering habits, destroying what he built at once?

If I can inject anything non-constructive, which perfectly reflects my hopes for Winston to follow any of our advice, it's a bit too late for Winston to act. Europe is not impossible but it's too tough for him.

My constructive advice remains to improve his image, muster the patience and perseverance to build a good network of people, in which he will choose his life companion. Yet, it can do it here in the Philippines more easily.

WOMEN around the age of thirty and above are typically in the stage of choosing life partners. Especially in countries where such women are considered over the hill this works in men's favor. A careerist or a personality disordered type can be easily identified and discarded.

But women who require "patience" from you just are not that into you and do not deserve serious consideration.

However, I would agree that selecting the right hunting ground for such women is of the essence.

Guys Winston is not going to start lifting weights and even less is he going to get a job in Europe. Why? Because he's Winston and we love him for it. If he got a job and biceps he just be like the rest of us. Appreciate him for what he is: man wasn't meant to be free in freedom, but to find freedom inside a prison (often of his own making).

I agree with Contrarian Expat, if a woman isn't initially interested - you then will be continually wheeling your barrow up hill.

Well when I'm in colder climates where I can play tennis and jog around the track and not worry about sweating, And I have more energy too, both physically and to do more writing online too. Thus I look thinner and healthier.

Here is an example of what I mean. Here are some selfies I took in the mirror when I lived in Washington state. I've explained this many times to some guys here but they won't listen or take into account for some reason.

I agree with you, although sometimes it's a subtle matter of looking for other clues than a resounding "yes".

I mentioned patience in building your personal and social worth. Finding the right environment, gaining trust and respect, identify the women you fancy and giving her (or them) a try. I didn't mean one needs to hang on forever.

Or Sammo Hung suit and slick hair - if you can affect a Kung Fu Hustle swagger with that all to the better - the Eastern European girls will be loving it. Too bad the world isn't flat and you can't fold time and space - so you could just walk out your front door and be Bucharest high-fiving admirers rather than living in this matrix prison world where one has to pack up the laptop and head to the airport. The elites surely don't undergo such necessary trials - bring back the concord, beam me up Scotty!

In those two I was wearing a shirt that was my work uniform. The blazer I got from a thrift store. I was in Seattle so it fit the city style. And plus it was cold too. It made me feel professional. lol

Joining a theatre company in Europe? Unless it's, literally, a group of friends meetings occasionally to try a couple of things, you will need stability to have a hobby like that.

Stability = job + Visa. I don't think so.

You keep forgetting that a Peter Pan life only works in the pond-sized world you created for yourself.
