Obsession with animals/pets

Post by CannedHam »

Yesterday on my way to work I heard a story of a science teacher in Idaho who fed a sick/dying puppy to a snapping turtle in front of his science class. Apparently he's getting death threats, the school district is getting threatened, and so on. I've seen numerous instances of people calling for the death of those who kill a dog.

Take this example from 2013:

IMO it's in no way 100% clear that shooting a f***ing angry rotweiler in the middle of a hostage situation was unjustified. Yet the police department received bomb threats, the officers were flooded with death threats, and so on. Just read the comments.

Rapists, murderers, and child abusers are let off with less scrutiny and outrage in America.

Around 70% of US households own a pet, and the average pet owner spends something like $2,000/yr per pet. Yet the complaints about the cost of raising a child, stagnating wages, and growing household debt never stop. As someone with a baby on the way, it is unconscionable for me to pour thousands of $ into raising dogs when I could help my kid out w/college costs, or hell, even donate part of what I would've spent on the pet to charity.

Obviously, I don't condone mistreating animals. And obviously everyone is free to own whatever animals they want. But it's clear that many Americans feel more emotionally connected to animals, particularly dogs.

For some reason people love animals, some more than people. I'm always surprised when I see someone letting a dog lick their face and mouth area. The explanation is that dogs have antibodies in their mouths or that it is cleaner than a human mouth. Despite that, it's still gross.

In Spain, chimps, gorillas and urang-utans have even limited HUMAN rights. No joke!

Spain could soon become the first country in the world to give chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans and other great apes some of the fundamental rights granted to human beings under a law being proposed by members of the ruling Socialist coalition.

The law would eliminate the concept of "ownership" for great apes, instead placing them under the "moral guardianship" of the state, much as is the case for children in care, the severely handicapped and those in comas, said the MP behind the project, Francisco Garrido.

Parliament’s environmental committee approved resolutions urging Spain to comply with the Great Apes Project, devised by scientists and philosophers who say our closest genetic relatives deserve rights hitherto limited to humans.

Death threats issued towards the science teacher are uncalled for, although this sick individual should never be allowed inside a classroom again. A stint in the penitentiary for animal cruelty wouldn't go amiss either.

Assuming the arrest was justified, it looks like a justified kill of the dog. Humans not being injured take precedence over the lives of dogs, IMO. I'd have shot it, too. I'd like to think if I had a tazer that had a repeat fire mechanism that I was a good at shooting as a pistol (assuming I were a police officer in this scenario) I'd have tazed the thing instead. But if a cop shoots a dog during an arrest to save himself from likely being bitten, I don't think he should face any legal consequences.

And some people have a crazy mentality that puts animals on the same level with humans. Animals don't think that way, especially the ones that kill other animals to feed their own young or their own kind.

Because they believe in the Darwinian lies of human evolution. They think that apes are man's near relatives, when they are just more beasts of the field, despite the fact that they may or may not be more intelligent than the average bear.

The amount of people calling for the death of those cops, bombarding the department with threats, etc. for the cops not "de-escalating" the situation with the dog was astounding. See http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nationa ... -1.1390610

To give you some background, the guy was blasting rap and taunting the police in the middle of a hostage situation with a barricaded suspect, for not "having enough blacks on the police force". Hence the 10+ squad cars closing off the street. And on top of that the guys f****g rottweiler starts attacking the cops. I'm pretty damn critical of the police in America, but this IMO was 100% justified.

Awful story! I don't understand why some people do such things to animals. I have two dogs and I do my best to take care of them and prolong their lives. And I know that this is my responsibility. And there was a teacher who did such an awful thing to his puppy, moreover in front of the class...

We love our dogs and treat them like family. Both of the furries suffer from some weird allergy now, and I need to buy apoquel online canada . It's disheartening when our pets face health challenges, and finding solutions becomes a priority. Apoquel seems to be a promising option, and if anyone has experiences with using it or insights on managing allergies in dogs, I'd appreciate your advice.

Obviously dogs are far superior to modern people. Dogs are loyal. Modern people have no good traits and should be ranked somewhere below cockroaches.

it is true that a dog is a man's best friend and we still need to learn from them. But a lot of dogs need to be trained for not to be dangerous for society. At https://petgnearme.com/ has nice option to find a trainer in ur town or outside. So woth to check it!
