Questions about Australia

I've never been to Australia, but I may go there for work in a couple of months, briefly, possibly Perth.

I won't have much time, so I'm wondering what should I eat if I go to Australia? I've never tried Vegemite. I tried a Lamington once, and it was okay. The idea doesn't appeal to me much. Do they eat the same things Americans eat? Is there something in particular I need to eat, or something I need to do while I am there for just a few nights? I'll be busy during the day.
